New connecting gathering area for student, faculty, and visitors
I developed the site design for a gathering area at the heart of UNOs Main campus, integrating historical significance and environmental consciousness. Central to the design highlights an existing lighthouse, a relic that once stood at the end of a pier in Lake Pontchartrain now landlocked since 1929 when the Orleans Levee Board completed its landfill project along the lakeshore. The project strategically incorporates raised decking around select mature trees, providing protection from increased foot traffic for the trees while offering a serene and shaded respite for students, staff, and visitors on the campus. Additionally, a new pedestrian walkway is planned to connect the Beach and UNO Buildings, addressing a previous gap in campus accessibility.

Raised Decks
Worked with structural engineers to build decks around mature existing trees in order to limit major damage to root structure.
